Belarus - click to enlarge Ousted Kyrzyg President Bakiev has arrived in Belarus. Belarus’ authoritarian President Alexander Lukashenko said Tuesday he had arranged for Bakiyev to come to the Belarusian capital. His presence, however, could exacerbate Belarus’ tensions with both the West as well as neighboring Russia. “President Bakiyev and his family are in Minsk under the protection of our state and me personally,” Lukashenko said in televised remarks to parliament, adding that his guests were undergoing medical checkups. Belarus borders Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia. Belarus seems to be a country that's easy to miss. The country's president, Alexander Lukashenko, has been in power for about fifteen years. The Bush administration described him as "the last dictator in Europe" heading up "an outpost of tyranny." He is sometimes linked to Chavez of Venezuela, Ahmadinejad of Iran, and Kim Jong Il of North Korea. Axis of Evil stuff....

In Russia, Putin deals with the Jewish oligarchs at least partially in the open. Sometimes he cooperates with them, and other times he opposes them. But in any case, there's no love lost between Putin and the oligarchs. In the United States, our government leaders do not dare to oppose powerful Jewish interests or they simply won't be government leaders anymore. So they don't lead exactly, they just pretend to lead. They actually follow. Who is better served by their leaders, the Russian people or the American people? ^^^^^^^ It looked to me that Russia helped along the recent Kyrgystan changes.
