The Institute for Human Continuity has a website detailing the horrific calamities awaiting us in 2012. This is a very slick website. These people are going to guarantee a small remnant of the human population will survive in their underground cities. They will also be using some floating cities and underground personal bunkers, all of which technology seems to be at hand. I can just imagine what wonderful technologies that could be helping the world right now, today, yet are being held aside in preparation for these calamities in 2012.
You can even sign up for their Survival Lottery. No word on how you'll be micro-chipped, but one would assume there's a high-tech solution to keeping track of the surviving human remnant -- who of course will be totally dependent on the IHC -- once everything else has been destroyed.

Since rising sea levels take a long time to rise - it doesn't happen overnight - can you imagine all these people, down at the shore, sitting in those buoyant coffins, feeding corn pellets to their doves, while their kids occupy themselves by digging moats and building mini-retaining walls around sand arks.
BTW, what's the big deal about dying? Death is the great equalizer, taking rich and poor alike. We all go down that road, so why worry about a fact of life that's non-negotiable?

A viral marketing site for Roland Emmerich's latest apocalyptic epic, 2012, has been spotted. Made to look like an official web page for an organization that called The Institute for Human Continuity, the site offers a slightly conspiratorial look into what may lurk underneath the plot of the film.
You may remember a while back some news emerged that giant man made arks (that's right, Arks as in Noah and the...) would play a role in 2012. Well, an ark can only hold so many people right? And, in the case of a worldwide flood, who decides who survives and who gets left to drown? That's where The IHC comes into play as, from the looks of it, survivors are chosen by a lottery they're sponsoring. You can get your own ticket on the site by entering in some personal info, like name and email.

Israel: 'We're on a Collision Course with Syria'
04/02/2009 A military confrontation with Syria is likely to occur in the near future, Maj.-Gen. (res.) Amos Gilad, who heads the Israeli Defense Ministry's Diplomatic-Security Bureau, warned on Tuesday.
Such a clash almost occurred in the summer of 2006, and Israel was now close to returning to that point, he said.
"We're on a collision course with Syria," Gilad told the ninth annual Herzliya Conference at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya. "We need to try and reach a peace agreement with Syria," he said, warning that if Israel failed to do so, "there will be rockets in large numbers targeting Tel Aviv."
Israel should not place its faith in the fact that the Syrian border has been quiet since the end of the Yom Kippur War, he went on. Damascus has continued to support Israel's enemies and to send them weapons. The missiles that hit Israel during the summer of 2006 were from Syria, not Iran, he claimed.
"In the space of two years, we could face a hostile entity on our eastern border - from a nuclear Iran through Syria and down to Hezbollah and Hamas," Gilad said.
