one for all and all for one

Obama made a speech. First thing you notice is that we're in a war, a multi-front war. Al Qaeda and the number eleven are involved, again. And Dr. Steven Chu has a Nobel Prize. And it's more like an epidemic actually, and we have a battle plan to deal with the assault.

THE PRESIDENT:  Good evening.  ... taking the fight to al Qaeda .... the battle we’re waging against an oil spill that is assaulting our shores and our citizens. ...  Eleven ... Dr. Steven Chu .... more like an epidemic, one that we will be fighting for months and even years. ... We will fight this spill with everything we’ve got for as long as it takes.  ... what our battle plan is going forward: ...

The stage is set. WAR. War requires SACRIFICES.

[Big snip where the promises go about making BP pay for everything and how everything will be made pristine somehow, no details yet....]

As for assigning blame, please first note that Obama was misled. Someone assured him this limited offshore drill was ABSOLUTELY SAFE. And he believed them.

A few months ago, I approved a proposal to consider new, limited offshore drilling under the assurance that it would be absolutely safe –- that the proper technology would be in place and the necessary precautions would be taken. That obviously was not the case in the Deepwater Horizon rig, and I want to know why.
This is like Condi saying 'who could have imagined.' So there will be a National Commission, just like after 911, to uncover all the "human error" which no doubt caused this terrible catastrophe. Damn humans.

"At least two inches of bullshit coats everything I say."

Also, no doubt, a few heads will roll someplace, like at MMS, because come to find out, there was corruption. And Obama named a new czar, Michael Bromwich, to rebuild the oversight organization.

He conducted the inquiry into the FBI's handling of the Aldrich Ames espionage case; the way the bureau and DOJ handled classified information while probing campaign finance; an alleged deception of a Congressional delegation by high-ranking officials of the Immigration and Naturalization Service; and the DOJ's role in the CIA crack cocaine controversy. And as a federal prosecutor, Bromwich also served as associate counsel in the Office of Independent Counsel for Iran-Contra, acting as one of three courtroom lawyers for the government in the case of United States v. Oliver L. North.
So he's.....experienced.

Now for the big lie: scarcity.

But a larger lesson is that no matter how much we improve our regulation of the industry, drilling for oil these days entails greater risk.  After all, oil is a finite resource.  We consume more than 20 percent of the world’s oil, but have less than 2 percent of the world’s oil reserves.  And that’s part of the reason oil companies are drilling a mile beneath the surface of the ocean -- because we’re running out of places to drill on land and in shallow water.
Peak Oil:

For decades, we have known the days of cheap and easily accessible oil were numbered.  For decades, we’ve talked and talked about the need to end America’s century-long addiction to fossil fuels.

And for decades, we have failed to act with the sense of urgency that this challenge requires.  Time and again, the path forward has been blocked -- not only by oil industry lobbyists, but also by a lack of political courage and candor.

The consequences of our inaction are now in plain sight.
Countries like China are investing in clean energy jobs and industries that should be right here in America.
Each day, we send nearly $1 billion of our wealth to foreign countries for their oil.
And today, as we look to the Gulf, we see an entire way of life being threatened by a menacing cloud of black crude.

OUR INACTION?

Whoa, hold on a second. Yes, for decades they've been telling us that we're doomed. But it's not fair to say we did nothing. We did act. We recycled, we conserved, we begged them to improve technology. We worked harder. We put in the replacement windows. We paid extra for organic. Et cetera. Still our jobs went away. Still we went into more debt to the bankers. Nothing we did has ever seemed to help.

As a matter of fact, just THREE WEEKS before this catastrophe, a national survey showed that everything we've been told for decades had been sufficiently baked in, and Americans were ready to support "radical measures" to break our nation's dependence on oil and oil imports!

Using a split sample technique, the survey found that when Americans understand the small percentage of world oil reserves held by this country, support for reduced consumption and higher fuel economy standards increased.  When informed the U.S. holds less than three percent of the world's oil reserves, the proportion of respondents who felt it "very important" to reduce our oil dependence increased from 54% to 68% and the proportion who supported a 50 mpg standard rose from 66% to 72%.
"Our survey data strongly suggest that the American public is getting very close to the point, if they're not already there, where they are prepared to support radical measures to break our nation's dependence on oil and oil imports," said Jack Gillis, CFA Director of Public Affairs and author of The Car Book.  "And the Gulf oil spill can only have increased this support," he added.
The survey of 1010 representative adult Americans was conducted by ORC March 25-28, 2010.  Its margin of error is plus or minus three percentage points.
And then...look what happened.

Peak oil? The Gulf of Mexico has over 6,000 oil rigs because there's a ton of oil down there. Enough, we are told, to do this:

That's just from the Gulf of Mexico. Abiotic oil -- no joke. Peak oil? Now that's a joke.

So here's the plan. We're going to jump-start the clean energy industry. One for all and all for one!

Each of us has a part to play in a new future that will benefit all of us.  As we recover from this recession, the transition to clean energy has the potential to grow our economy and create millions of jobs -– but only if... Only if we seize the moment.  And only if we rally together and act as one nation –- workers and entrepreneurs; scientists and citizens; the public and private sectors.
Yes, one big happy family. And some of us will have to make sacrifices. Can you guess which ones?

I noticed all the war language, the language of battle. I am wondering due to conditioning, is this now the only way the government can 'talk' to it's people.

I mean, it makes sense, when you think of the fact that the government is at 'war' with it's population on a daily basis.

Their allegiance (allies)is with those that can pay good bribes. Provide nice trips and provide the best sex toys, mature or immature, boy or girl.

everyone else, is treated as an enemy combatant, hence the war language

indeed Pen, the war is on us. that's the part they leave out.

otherwise who exactly is the enemy?

is it mother nature? the "killer" oil well?

x wars. we are arrayed against ourselves, and most of us don't even know it.

If just *one* well is capable of polluting the north Atlantic like that, and of spewing out oil for years on end, imagine what would happen if *all* the oil from *all* the wells in the world was sucked up out of the ground and burnt and the remaining combustion gases were just released into the general atmosphere. Imagine that! Imagine if this went on, day after day, year after year, decade after decade, century after century. Do you think it might alter the climate of the planet any??

Fast wearing out my welcome...

Gore, Obama, Rahm all stand to make billions off cap & trade. Internal government documents in Spain call their version of cap & trade an economic nightmare. Barry's speech was almost word for word of a Jimmy Carter speech from July 1979. These green energies are lovely but they won't power our economy.
A. Peasant said…
does burning oil pollute? yes. that's not the issue driving the mindfuck. the issue is scarcity.

notice in obama's speech he does not question scarcity. it is assumed. everything follows from that assumption.

Oil costs a few dollars per barrel to pump from the most productive wells, but there aren't any more of those kinds of oil fields. Good oil fields are now scarce. There is plenty of hard-to-extract and enviromentally-destructive-to-extract oil out there, but even if global warming is a hoax, when you look at what all the oil is used for - for wars, and large scale industry so that idiots (like myself) can drive around in their cars all day - it makes you wonder if all the effort and expense and destruction is justified.

I saw footage of the guys in the lunchroom of a new coal-seam natural gas operation in Australia (one in a farming district, where after a few months the farmers can ignite the gas escaping from their water bores). These guys looked like they had literally sold their souls! Yet they had no clue - they thought they were doing the right thing and onto a good thing. I really don't think it's a good idea to attempt to continue powering the economy we've currently got. Fuck the economy we've currently got.

One hippy I know thinks oil is the earth's blood. And I thought this was a quaint idea when I first heard it, but I'm slowly starting to take the idea more seriously. Maybe oil does replenish itself - like our bodies can replenish our blood - but surely we're sucking it out faster than it's capable of replacing it?

Hello Peter D,

Why are you asking us to imagine every oil well spewing out oil like Deep Horizon? Not only is it hypothetical but the odds of that happening are approaching impossible. So why do it?

And as for cheap extraction of oil, I don't think you could go past Deep Horizon again - huge quantities coming up with no assistance what so ever.

Oil costs a few dollars per barrel to pump from the most productive wells, but there aren't any more of those kinds of oil fields.

ORLY! I think that is exactly what we have here in the Gulf of Mexico. No? And coming at us at no dollars to pump per barrel

And you seem confident that-
The bankers and such have got us right where they want us when half of us strenuously dispute the basic facts of the matter which the other half take for granted.

You know that is what I was thinking. And further, that is what I was thinking was going on right here . . . with you. Drawing attention to what you are doing is just the sort of smart-arse stuff that hasbararses come out with (because they think goyim cannot see what is going on) together with their doubts and fears sown in to their comments.

If you are not one of these sorts and don't want to be seen and treated as one (by me at least) then I suggest you stop with these ridiculous doubts and fears and with the hypothetical and grandiose opinions like you can tell who has sold their soul from a brief teevee grab of people who need a job and "had no clue".

And, btw, it is not good form to call yourself an idiot or anything else. These are judgements that are best made by others.

Believe in history repeating itself? Well it seems the same oil well owners had exactly the same type of blowout in 1979, 31 years ago and all the same failed techniques were tried then; the top hat, then it was called a sombrero, the failed top down technique; mile long oil booms and dispersants; trying to bung up the hole with ball bearings etc. The only thing that eventually worked was two relief wells and that took them nine months to put in place. So what was different about that one from this one? The old one was in 200 feet of water; this one is in over 5,000 feet of water.

http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/867.html

I have heard loose talk about BP filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy but not while they are making a fortune betting against themselves fixing it.

Dublin Mick, I read the America Burning article when you first put it up. It sure looks like it is time to poison the well with sea water from the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Talk about giving the boss man a pair of unpleasant choices. There again, if as some maintain, Katrina was ‘assisted’ then maybe they have the technology to refill the reservoirs, who am I to speculate on such things?

Mick, the military and intel vets are neatly ignoring the glaring fact that the Pentagon is involved with the israelis. That the israelis wouldn't get past square one without the US military's help. And the number one primo example of that is the WTC demos.

So until this inconvenient fact is faced squarely by these vet organisations, I think it best to treat them as gatekeepers

Of course the pentagon has been involved with james, Jesus that is why is shaped like a pentagram. There have been a lot of high ranking generals forced out in the last few years and replaced by generals educated at Georgetown university, a PTB stronghold like Betrayus. Who incidentally fainted lately trying to pass on a rabbit hole summation to the senate armed services committee.

Maybe the ask him how power plants and submarines along the coast would work while in giant pools of oil. Who knows!

Active intel agents are faced with towing the line against Americas best interests or being fired. It is a case of you and your family or going along to get along. It is also highly compartmentalized from what I am told. They are not listened to while active.

It is the retired ones who people need to listen to. They are free to speak their mind.

Yeah the veterans today site is dead for me at present. Most likely because of the intel story. They are getting ready to pass the intel kill switch anyway. Obama can just order inconvenient sites not to exist.

Part II

The answer is that Israel espionage has penetrated American government, media, politics, and even our security institutions to the point that the Zios have no fear of those responsible for our national security protecting us from the Israeli fifth column operating here. They are protected by powerful interests.

The military, veteran and intelligence communities
are really the only American institutions
who can take the lead on tearing
the Israeli espionage networks
out by the roots.

All the other institutions are already compromised. And they will fight like hell as they know that the fifth column could not have been as effective as they have been without more than a few disloyal Americans helping them, many who are well known names.

They will do anything
to protect themselves
from exposure ~ anything ~ and they have.
The USS Liberty is just one example,
where dead and wounded servicemen
were literally abandoned on the battlefield
so as to not reveal to the American public
that they were murdered by the Israelis.

You might remember that the last whistle blower
reform legislation was slapped down a while back.

The Congress-critters know what a threat that is.

So do the Israelis.

We have loyal Intel people who know that the Israelis
have been given key Homeland Security contracts
that actually have the American taxpayer funding their espionage operations.

Oh yes, the Israelis make us pay for it…smart folks they.

James:

Why are you asking us to imagine every oil well spewing out oil like Deep Horizon? Not only is it hypothetical but the odds of that happening are approaching impossible. So why do it?

James, I wasn’t talking about anything hypothetical, I was talking about what goes on every day these days – 30 billion barrels is pumped out of the ground each year, and a good deal of all that oil is burnt, and the exhaust gases are expelled into the atmosphere. Year in, year out.

And as for cheap extraction of oil, I don't think you could go past Deep Horizon again - huge quantities coming up with no assistance what so ever.

The oil spewing out of the ground at deepwater isn’t doing it on its own. It costs a lot of money to drill for oil in 1500 feet of water, and the reason this disaster happened is they were trying to cut costs. If they could poke a hole in the ground on land, instead of under the sea, you can bet they’d be doing that instead.

...I suggest you stop with these ridiculous doubts and fears and with the hypothetical and grandiose opinions like you can tell who has sold their soul from a brief teevee grab of people who need a job and "had no clue".

All I could tell from the glimpse I got of them was that they were alienated human beings. That was enough. I know there's a better way to do things than the way they were doing things.

I am trying to listen but the sound goes in and out like they are too far from the mic two thirds of the time. My sound is not that good anyway. Anything notable being said I missed? I know cindy Sheehan was there.

I heard them say they want to stop drilling and stop the dispersants. It may be a little late on the drilling.

I read one theory that the Macambo well was already leading bad near the Mississippi before Horizon went up due to a slant process they used like Kuwait which is unsafe. They apparently tore open the sea bed badly and never mentioned it.

It could explain why they had the banker short and staged the Horizen event and so forth. I can't prove that but it would explain a lot.

It could mean they knew people would be incensed and decided to go with the dispersants and push up the program a bit. It may not have been initially planned at first. If that is the case they have destroyed themselves and us too. This contamination is also headed to Europe.

It is almost pitiful watching people on the gulf call for a stop to drilling. It may be a bit late for that.
